macOS Credential Provider

Companies using macOS computers need Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to ensure robust security measures.

By using the OpenOTP Credential Provider, organizations can ensure that only authorized users are connecting to their sessions, adding an extra layer of security to protect sensitive data and resources.

This can also be done off the company network or even totally offline, ensuring security no matter where the users are located.

Offline Mode

An offline mode is available in the OpenOTP Credential Provider for macOS, which can be enabled during the configuration process. When your macOS is offline, you can still log in securely using either a One-Time Password (OpenOTP Token App required) or a FIDO2 key. This is possible only using these 2 authentication methods.

If the OpenOTP Credential Provider for macOS cannot contact the OpenOTP server, it will automatically switch to offline mode. In this mode, you will be prompted with a QR code if you are using the OpenOTP Token or a FIDO2 challenge if you are using FIDO2 keys. This ensures you maintain robust security even without an internet connection.

If your policy allows both methods and they are registered on your account, you can choose which one to use for your offline login. The flexibility of selecting between OTP and FIDO2 keys enhances user convenience while maintaining high security standards.
